When Jesus saw his mother,
and the disciple whom he loved standing near,
he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son!"
Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!"
And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

Jesus on the cross asks his disciple to behold his mother, by which he actually referred to his mother Mary and at that very instant he transformed Mary to the universal Madonna of all the disciples and followers of Jesus.
The festival of Christmas therefore not only commemorates the birth of our Holy Father, but also thanks and shows our gratitude to the blessed virgin, whom we all know as our dear Mother Mary.
