'A Christmas Story' Sequel |
'A Christmas Story' is a film by Bob Clark based on the story written by Jean Shepherd. It was released in 1983 soon after the time of thanks giving.
The film is about the kid Ralphie Parker who only wants one thing this Christmas: an official Red Ryder, carbine action BB gun. Every one tells him that he will shoot his eye out and this forms the storyline of 'A Christmas story'. The story actually begins with this desire of the little boy who tries every conceivable way to get what he really wants for Christmas.
Following the success of the movie, in 1992 Jean Shepherd and Bob Clark once again combined their talents and came out with 'A Christmas Story' sequel based on more of Jean Shepherds stories. The sequel is 'My Summer story'. The 1994 film follows the further adventures of Ralphie Parker and his family.
The opening of 'My Summer Story' makes direct reference to the events of 'A Christmas Story' and the ending narration strongly parallels that of the earlier film. However, the sequel features an entirely different cast, with two exceptions. Both movies feature Tedde Moore as Ralphie's teacher, Miss Shields, and Jean Shepherd as the narrator, the voice of the adult Ralphie.
