St. Patrick’s Day is the religious holiday observed in Ireland. The day has been named after the Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Every year 17th March is observed as the St. Patrick’s Day. The day is associated with various musical & sports events, parades, songs, wearing green and drinking of beer. Wearing O’ the Green
On this special day, it is a very common practice to wear green color clothes. People of Ireland wear green color hats, shirts, jackets and scarves. In fact, wearing green, especially on the St. Patrick’s Day is regarded as paying homage to the country itself. Another common belief is that the green color brings in good luck.
Irish Music
It is a common custom to listen to good Irish music on this special day. Popular songs for this occasion are ‘Erin Go Bragh’, ‘Black Velvet Band’, ‘Whiskey in the Jar’ and many more.
Food & Festivals
A popular tradition on this occasion is to eat typical Irish foods. These may contain corn beef & cabbage for dinner and scones for breakfast.
Drink
Drinking on 17th March is also very common. This practice has been in vogue since long. In fact it is not at all a problem if the adults drink on this occasion but within limits. Whiskey and Guinness beer are preferred.
