Ever since Christianity became the state religion for the Roman Empire, Christmas has been a major holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus. In the centuries that have followed, what was once a small remembrance amongst a few believers has transformed into one of the largest festivals in the world.
As December 25th nears, friends and loved ones gather to share in the joy of the season. People decorate their homes with Christmas trees and hang lights all over the house. They dress up and throw parties, exchanging gifts and singing carols. Large feasts are served, church attendance swells, and everyone awaits the arrival of Santa Claus hoping the perfect present is there on Christmas morning.
