Three Wise Men are known to be the three men from the east who came to visit Lord Jesus in manger. According to Isaiah the three wise men names are Balthazar, Caspar and Melchior. None of these three wise men names carry any ascertainable meaning, but there are several legends and interpretations associated with the three wise men names.
Caspar was the king of Mayan city of Palenque. Caspar also known, as Gaspar can also be a variant of the Persian Jasper or Master of the Treasure from which the name of the mineral jasper is derived. His real name was Rustaham-Gondofarr Suren-Pahlav and he was the ruler of the eastern-greater Iran, between 10BC to AD17.
Three wise men names by the Syrian Christians were Larvandad, Hormisdas, and Gushnasaph. The first name Larvandad is a combination of Lar, which is a region near Tehran, and vandad is a common suffix in Middle Persian, meaning "related to" or "located in". The second name, Hormisdas is a variation of the Persian name Hormoz. The name referred to the angel of the first day of each month whose name had been given by the supreme God of Zoroastrian called "Ahuramazda" or "Ormazd".
The third name Gushnasaph was a common name used in Old and Middle Persian. The name is a combination of Gushn meaning "full of manly qualities" or "full of energy" and Asp means horse. Hence, the third name might mean something as energetic and virile as a horse.
