Christmas is celebrated all over the world to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ the Son of God, the Messiah, who was sent from heaven to spread the message of God. The festive season of Italy is filled with the music. All the shops, restaurants, the private, the public as well as the commercial buildings are decorated with lights at the time of the Christmas festival.
The 12 Days of Italian Christmas is actually the 12 Days of Christmas celebrations that take place in Italy.
Italy, officially the Italian Republic, is a Southern European country. The 12 Days of Italian Christmas is filled with events, shows and concerts. Some of the local festivals related to the 12 Days of Italian Christmas and also the festival of Christmas are:
- 22nd December- Santa Claus gives gifts to children
- 24th December- Living Nativity Scene with Costumed Parade and Re-Enactment of Ancient Professions, Ice Nativity Scene, born fire celebrations and exchange of gifts takes place.
- 24th and 25th December - Living Nativity Scene in the church of S.M.Assunta
- 25th December to 3rd January- Living Nativity Scene
- 5th January- Living Nativity Scene with hundreds of costumed figures who re- enact the arrival of the Three Kings at the manger.
- 6th January - Greek Orthodox Ritual and Procession that includes traditional Albanian costumes and rituals. Epiphany Parade of the Three Kings proceeds from the Duomo to the church of St. Eustorgio.
