Shakespeare wrote, “If music be the food of love, play on”. So then, rock the music with Christmas Carnivals The Christmas Collection il Divo. The name is Italian for “divine male performer”. Il Divo is an international vocal pop group, performing under Sony’s label.
They are Carlos Marin, Urs Buhler, David miller and Sebastien Izambard.
If you thrill to the operatic voices of The Three Tenors and imagine every Christmas comes with its own orchestral extravaganza, Il Divo has made this for you. The four singers were handpicked by American Idol's Simon Cowell for their ability to sing opera and classical music with a pop sensibility. Their Christmas Collection features 10 standards. These emotionally stirring renditions are part of the reverential treatment the four finely sculpted voices bring to what is a more exact seasonal fare like “O Holy Night”, “Ave Maria”, “Panis Angelicus” and “White Christmas”. Dave Arch’s choral orchestral arrangements are aimed where the church choir and traditional classical meet, with a dash of Irish folk music in “When a Child is Born”.
In “O Holy Night”, Josh Groban has the world's best version of the song. The novelty is back in “White Christmas” when translated. “Ave Maria” sounds different. Howexre, the best version by far has to be attributed to “When a Child is Born”. It has the haunting feel of Charlotte Church and Andrea Bocelli with improvisational instrumentals. “Adeste Fidelis” features an awesome a capella in the first verse and the rest is beautifully rendered. “Over the Rainbow”, considered classical Christmas music in the UK, is stunning. “Rejoice” should have been a solo. The Christmas Collection has gorgeous orchestrations and much better vocal arrangements. Check out Christmas Carnivals The Christmas Collection il Divo.
