Not all nautical songs are sea Maritimes. There are both muscular numbers here (songs sailors used to work in rhythm hauling lines, hoisting sails, lifting anchor, or simply swabbing the decks), as also the ballads sailors shared off-duty, and the everyday songs sung on shore by women and families creating a vivid, transcending portrayal of naval culture. The Revels Chorus is joined by British traditional singers David Jones, Louis Killen, John Roberts and Tony Barrand. Among the 23 selections are "Threescore and Ten", "Maid on the Shore", "Adieu, Sweet Lovely Nancy", "Blood Red Roses", "Lady Franklin's Lament", "Yea Ho, Little Fish" and "Rolling Home to Old New England".
In the Springs self - titled album, the featured songs are: The Prisoner (Eight By Ten), Grail, Boats, Shipwrecked Soldier, Golden Fleece, Inside Out, Song To Absent Friends (The Island), Gazing. The CD version has a few more tracks added to the list such as: Fools Gold, Hendre Mews and A World Full of Whispers.
