A Christmas Carol Theatre |
'A Christmas Carol' is a play by Charles Dickens and perhaps one of the favorite Plays of Christmas Theatre repertoires. The story of the Play is about a miserly old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who believes that Christmas is just an excuse for people to miss work. Buying gifts on this eve is a waste according to him.
He holds anything other than wealth in contempt including friendship, love and the Christmas season.
'A Christmas Carol' has seven major characters including the three spirits who visit Scrooge at night before Christmas. The first spirit that visits Scrooge introduces himself as the ghost of Christmas past. This spirit leads Scrooge on a journey into some of happiest and saddest moments of Scrooge's past. The second spirit that is the ghost of Christmas present shows Scrooge Christmas celebration of Cratchit family, the enthusiasm of crippled tiny Tim and the faith of Scrooge's nephew in his uncle's potential for change.
The third spirit or the ghost of Christmas yet to come provides Scrooge visions of bereft Cratchit family after death of Tim, his own lonely death and the avaricious reactions of people after his decease.
The three ghosts show Scrooge his mistake in valuing money over people. He realizes his fault and promises to change his ways. Ebenezer Scrooge who used to say that Christmas is a humbug, now says," Merry Christmas” to everyone
.
Set in a completely ghostly ambience with snippets of humor, 'A Christmas Carol' Story beautifully portrays the transformation its main character undergoes and thus, spread the message that Christmas is all about to spread love and peace all around.
