Christmas Eve is a very exciting time for the kids. Kids Christmas Eve mainly comprise of the gift giving ceremony offered by Santa to the children. Santa Claus is popularly known as the Father Christmas and also called St Nicholas.
It is believed that Santa Claus visits every home on Christmas Eve and leave presents under the tree and in the stockings of all good children To the kids he is a fat, jolly white bearded great grand pa dressed in a red suit.
Santa Claus rides in a sleigh full of toys drawn through the air by eight reindeer. Children leave mince pies and brandy for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer.
Kids Christmas Eve is marked by various customs observed by the kids. In many countries, children leave empty containers for Santa to fill with small gifts such as toys, candy, or fruit. In the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada children hang a Christmas stocking by the fireplace on Kids Christmas Eve because Santa is said to come down the chimney to fill them on Christmas Eve. In other countries, children put their empty shoes out for Santa to fill on the night before Christmas.
The tradition of leaving empty stockings by the chimney for Santa has a beautiful legend. Father Christmas once dropped some gold coins while coming down the chimney. The coins would have fallen through the ash grate and been lost if they hadn't landed in a stocking that had been hung out to dry. Since that time children have continued to hang out stockings in hopes of finding them filled with gifts. In Lithuania children perform before Santa Claus. They recite poems, sing songs or dance with musical instruments.
