Rudolph is the remarkable reindeer among Santa Claus's eight flying reindeers that pulls his sleigh. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a popular Christmas story that has been interpreted in the forms of song, rhymes and even in feature films.
Story of Rudolph
The story behind the story of Rudolph goes like this. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is all about a shy, young reindeer with a shiny red nose. All people on Christmas town laughed and mocked at the reindeer for his red nose. Getting very disappointed Rudolph and his friend Hermey, the Elf went out of the town. Very soon the detestable Snow monster followed them. They flee to the island of Misfit Toys in the far off Arctic land. There Yukon Cornelius, a prospector rescued them. Again they returned to Christmas town in a despondent mood and found in utter dismay that the festival of Christmas has been canceled due to stormy weather. Rudolph's illuminated nose served a great purpose. It used as a beacon to guide Santa's sleigh.
Robert L May wrote the story of Rudolf the red-nosed Reindeer May in 1939 in a booklet for the Montgomery Ward department stores. The story of Rudolph attained popularity when May's brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, developed the lyrics and melody for the song. The song recorded by Gene Autry in 1949, and became a best seller.
