Easter Fiji Island

A tiny island in the South Pacific Fiji is an incredible place to visit. On your visit to the Fiji Island you will be surprised to be greeted with a few words like the "Bula" that means hello in the regional language of the people there.

The wide populaces in the Fiji Island were most commonly known for their violent and horrifying nature during the ancient times the nature of the people have now changed and they have become friendly and nice. The Fiji Island has lots to offer along with the friendly greeting of the people the island has now become one of the most interesting places for the tourists.

Two types cultures known as the Polynesian and Melanesian culture have dominated over the other cultures and have been eminent in this Island. In the religious side the most important religion that is Christianity has been a major source of influence for the various intellectual and spiritual practices of the people. The people in Fiji follow their own unique style in celebrating Easter. Easter plays a significant role in Fiji. The people celebrate it with immense joy and have a family get together where they celebrate and have fun.

The people in Fiji organize Christian masses. Although there may not be proper churches in Fiji a hut in the shape of a church plays the role of a church for the Christians. The people dress up in their best attire and wear colorful dresses to dress up for the occasion. A certain present needs to be brought for the chief for those who want to have a visit to the village. The gift is substituted for a favor and the people refer to it as the "sevu - sevu". The occasion also has certain sermons that are presided over by the priest and these are all done in the local language of the Fijians.

There are numerous other customs and traditions that are followed by the people in Fiji. A certain cross that prevails among the other islands is shared by the Fijians. The cross floats on water and is carried from one island to the other in the similar manner. The cross has a great significance and while the cross is being transported from one island to another the people sing praises of Christ until the cross is transferred. After their arrival with the cross a celebratory customary meal is served to the whole group. A traditional drink called the Kava is finally taken in the end to conclude the Easter celebration.
