The first Easter was perhaps held around 2000 years ago when Christ resurrected into heaven. The resurrection of Jesus during the first Easter has led to the belief that the event is a symbol of a new beginning and prosperity.
According to local beliefs, the story of the first Easter goes like this:
After being crucified, Jesus died on the cross and was kept in a cave. When the women went to the cave to see Jesus they did not find him inside the cave. An angel appeared before them and told the women that Jesus has risen again from his dead state and all the sins have been forgiven. The angel rolled the stone for Jesus to come out of the cave. Jesus was glowing with the Holy Spirit and was bright as lightning. His clothes were pure and white.
Jesus followed by his disciples, went to the mountain of Galilee, where he conveyed his teachings. Then he told his followers to spread the sermons of peace and happiness. After the preaching, the followers were awe struck to see Jesus going up to heaven surrounded by angels.
The First Easter gradually paved path for the Easter celebrations that we see today. The event celebrates the resurrection of Christ the redeemer and the beginning of the new life. Christians believe that Easter symbolizes the forgiveness of all the sins and starting of life afresh.
According to the First Easter, the traditions of the Easter festival have been made. People offer their prayers at midnight and hop for a new beginning. In most cases, the festival of Easter is celebrated for four days: Easter Friday or Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. These four days together is often referred to as Easter Weekend.
The tradition of Easter dining also dates back to first Easter. Food items that are considered auspicious for the event are pork, fish, legumes, lentils and confectionaries like cakes, pastries and chocolates. To add to the charm, wine or champagne is also tasted. Bread is also served as the last supper of Christ consisted of wine and bread.
