Christmas light sets come in a wide array of designs and colors. Miniature light bulbs come in sets of 35 (3.5 volts per bulb). 10 mini light bulb sets are used for tree toppers or stars. The incandescent mini lights also come in beautiful sets of 50 or 100. There are also computerized bulb light sets containing 140 bulbs per set.
Large bulbs typically come in sets of 25; though bubble lights combine sets of seven and some non-holiday sets come in ten or twelve. Sockets are usually spaced about one foot or 30cm apart and are clamped to the wire with an integrated insulation-piercing connector.
The incandescent bulbs have lost their popularity due to the entry of the LED sets. LED sets consume less power, remain cool, have prolonged bulb life and the whole set need not be replaced if one bulb extinguish.
Battery-powered sets typically come in 10 or 12, and can use standard 2.5 to 3.5-volt bulbs because they run two batteries, totaling three volts or less. Snow flake light sets displaying pointed star clear bulbs, icicle light sets in white wire clear bulbs, multicolored rope light sets in steady and chasing ropes or the lighted candy cane set are popular Christmas light sets.
