Christmas trees have gone through different cultures and evolved as a holy symbol of Christianity over a long period of time.
While Legend has it that the very concept of Christmas tree got rooted deep into Christianity from Pagan traditions, the gift giving custom also originated from Christmas trees when in Germany during Middle Ages, little items, like dolls nuts, fiddles and drums, work boxes, needle cases, pen wipes, ribbon, lace and paper chains were hung on the tree.
Every aspect of Christmas trees has got a specific foundation recorded in the history. Be it about its decoration or origin we have legends to say all about it. Similarly, Lighted Christmas trees have also got a tale. The first lighted Christmas tree is traced to Martin Luther who is believed to have started the tradition of having a lighted Christmas tree on the eve of Christmas.
Legend has it that it was about in the year 1500, when on a Christmas Eve, Martin Luther was walking through snow-covered woods and was struck by the beauty of a group of small evergreens. Their branches, sprinkled with snow, shone in the moonlight. When he got home, he set up a little fir tree indoors so he could share this story with his children. He decorated it with candles, which he lighted in honor of Christ's birth. This formed the basis for Lighted Christmas Trees.
Today, Christmas would not be in the best of its spirits if there were no Christmas trees scintillating with glittering Christmas Tree lights.
