Christmas Heart Stories
|
Christmas Heart Stories basically refer to the stories of sacred heart of Jesus Christ, which is meant to symbolize the love of God and to evoke love for God from us. According to the beliefs of Catholics, the symbol of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a powerful image of the love of God who delivered Himself up to death for us.
The Sacred Heart is a devotional name used by some Roman Catholics to refer to the physical Heart of Jesus as a symbol of Divine Love. Devotion to the Sacred Heart focuses on Christ's heart. This heart metaphorically focuses on the emotional and moral life of Jesus and especially his love for humanity. It also stresses the central Catholic concept of loving Jesus. In the image of sacred heart, Christ's heart is shown containing wounds to which Jesus is pointing, including a crown of thorns. The halo light represents His love for the mankind and thorns represent the sufferings that he bore for our sins.
Some non-Catholics have criticized devotion to the Sacred Heart for it’s a worship directing towards a body part. However, Catholics believe that the Sacred Heart is a traditional symbol depicting Christ's holy blood as a fountain. Even some Catholics have been critical of the overly sentimental nature of such devotion but most of these critics concede that the images essentially reflect the core Christian doctrine of love.
