Santa Claus Movie was the last major fantasy based film of the father and son production team of Alexander and Ilya Salkind. Produced in the year 1985 the movie was basically a Christmas attraction. Santa Claus movie was released in North America on 27th November 1985.
The film was a straightforward attempt to bring out the mysteries behind Santa Claus.The film's storyline is divided into two parts. In the first part of the film we find Claus a simple peasant woodcutter who along with his wife Anya distributes gifts to the children of a village. One night both of them were caught in a violent blizzard and frozen to death. Moments later they find themselves awaken in the land of a frozen plain or the home of elves. Claus met there an overzealous fellow named Patch.
Later, the supreme moment arrives when Claus is greeted by the Ancient One (Burgess Meredith), the
oldest and wisest of all the Elves, who explains them that both of them represent the fulfillment of a prophecy that a "Chosen One" would be brought into the Elves' world who, "having no child of his own, would love all children everywhere, and that he himself would be an artisan, and a craftsman, and a skilled maker of toys". Claus was even awarded the name of Santa Claus with which he would be known for ages to come.
