Santa Claus first emerged when the Dutch settlers arrived at Manhattan one Christmas day 1624. In Holland, Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) wears a red robe while riding a white horse, and carries a bag of gifts to fill the children's stockings with his own special Christmas goodies. The Route begins at the corner of Bloor and Christy streets and runs east along Bloor and Avenue. It then proceeds on to the south along Avenue Road, Queen's Park Crescent. Best Place to See the Parade: It is possible to see the Parade anywhere along the route described above. It is
important that you arrive at your chosen location early to provide yourself a good viewing location. Subway Commuting: There are numerous TTC stops along the Parade route, including Christie, Bathurst, Spadina, St. George, Museum, Queen's Park, St. Patrick, Osgoode, Queen, and King Stations. For a period of 77 years, Eaton has provided the funds for the Santa Claus Parade. Today's parade is run as a non-profit organization, with funding done by Canadian corporations and individuals who participate in the celebrity clown program.
