After Christmas Eve, midnight masses are held that is followed by the ringing of the church bells. The ringing of the church bells indicates the moment when Christmas Eve becomes Christmas Day. The most important event that takes place on the morning of 25th December is the opening of gifts or presents by adults as well as children that have been placed under the Christmas tree beforehand The children on the eve of Christmas hang a stocking from the ceiling, or place shoes or empty containers only to find the next morning that they have been filled with chocolates, books and various other gift items.
Parades and processions are an important part of the Christmas celebrations. The distribution of gifts by Santa Claus is an important feature of this parade. Majority of the people of the West, spend this day by visiting friends and relatives or by watching various shows and concerts. These shows and concerts differ from one another in their theme. The shows in particular can be musical shows or plays.
