Christmas is a great celebration time for the whole family. All family members and children come home during the Christmas time. Hence Christmas Eve for moms is a great fun time with children and family.
Moms remain very busy on the day as well as some days before Christmas Eve. She cleans the house, replace the old curtains with new ones, change bed, pillow and cushion covers and decorate the indoor and outdoors with multicolored lights. She sets up the Christmas tree and embellishes it with beautiful lights, crafts and tree ornaments.
For the Christmas Eve dinner mom covers the table with a beautiful new tablecloth and decorates it with candles, fir boughs and dinner table markers. Live flowers are appropriate for the table, in particular red or white poinsettias that are so popular in some countries at Christmas time. A small plate with Christmas wafers is placed in the center of the table.
Christmas Eve for moms is a time for some special cuisines. Moms spend most of the time in kitchen for preparing these special Christmas delicacies. Rolls, ham, turkey, a salad with shrimp, baked potatoes and cranberry sauces are common food items. In Germany moms prepare roast carp for the Christmas Eve Party while Czech Republic moms cook a fish soup combined with breaded roasted carp and potato salad. In Spain, moms prepare a seafood dish such as prawns or salmon, followed by a bowl of hot, homemade soup. Baked walnut, caramel chocolate cookies, gingerbread cakes are prepared by the moms on Christmas Eve.
