History of Christmas around the World is full of anecdotes. But certain customs and rituals are followed in all countries.
For example the Christmas tree. Though it had originated in Germany, today all the countries have Christmas tree as part of the Christmas festivities.
The same goes for Advent wreaths. The German Lutherans started this custom but today the wreath is an integral part of any home celebrating Christmas. The Germans celebrate Christmas in a very elaborate way. Gifts are given on December Sixth (St. Nicholas Day) and the Christmas Eve.
Jamaica is a tapestry of different cultures. The differentiating factor is the food. Jamaicans marinate mixed fruit in wine for months and then bake the Christmas cake with it. Christmas dinner is a delight. Roast chicken, beef or duck, curried goat, oxtails form a part of the menu. The other customs and rituals are the same as any other country.
